Adam is a Registered Nurse who provides restorative home care enhanced by health coaching, counselling & home exercise.  At the heart of his care, Adam offers evidence-based strategies to transform health together with patients.

What can a patient expect when they have me as a nurse?

Patients can expect to be valued as an equal partner in their health care. They will receive my full attention during our appointments. I work hard to help patients heal, and will continue to reflect on our work together after our visit. If there’s something else to talk about, I am available to follow-up and discuss next steps.

What is the most important factor in a nurse-patient relationship and why?

Rhythmicity. The patterns of becoming we choose in relationship with a nurse are key to establishing a therapeutic relationship. Do we attend to or distance ourselves from specific aspects of care? Do we reveal or conceal opportunities for health change? Do we connect or separate on specific topics? My power as a nurse originates from the paradoxes of pushing-resisting, affirming-not affirming and being-nonbeing in our therapeutic relationship. I count on my patients to choose their patterns of becoming, and value their perspectives on what a quality life means for them.

What areas of nursing you do have experience in?

Primary Care; Chronic Disease Management; Behavioural Health Consulting; Health Coaching; Community Health Nursing; Geriatric Psychiatry; Mental Health; Oncology/Hematology; Malnutrition and Supportive Care in Cancer

What hobbies of activities do you enjoy when you’re not working?

Reading; Watching sci-fi (especially The Expanse); Learning about fatigue, consciousness and Artificial Intelligence

Virtual care uses secure videoconferencing and electronic communications (e.g. secure e-mail) as an alternative to an in-person visit with your health care provider.

We may talk about how you are feeling, review your treatment plan and care options, or share health information and education. During the virtual care appointment, we will also clarify what services are available and which cannot be provided using electronic means for your particular health concern.

[Home Visiting Practices re: COVID-19 — January 31, 2021] ConsortiaCare.ca offers alternatives to a home visit, such as telehealth and virtual care options. In cases where a home visit is deemed essential, telephone screening for COVID-19 must be completed before the scheduled home visit. COVID-19 screening will again be completed upon entering your home environment. Screening does not impact the availability of care, but will impact the PPE required for your nurse during the home visit. ConsortiaCare.ca reserves the right to place additional restrictions on home care services in order to protect patients at increased risk of complications from COVID-19.
