Successful recovery from brain injury benefits from symptom-based care.
Do you need extra help to recover after a brain injury?
Whether recovering from a car accident or a ski injury, you deserve an expert team that understands the multidimensional symptoms of brain injury.
Our approach:
- Prioritize neurological recovery
- Build coping skills & resilience
- Act early to prevent distress
- Safely return to work/school/play
That is why we act early – to stabilize brain symptoms and psychosocial outcomes
Brain health assessments, health coaching and exercise prescriptions are available online and in the comfort of your home.
Proactively managing symptoms can improve your recovery.
Did you know that the timing of your return to work/school/play is determined by the symptoms of brain injury? The quicker we can stabilize the many symptoms of brain injury, the sooner you can get back to living a normal life.
It takes expert care to improve brain injury symptoms, something which a multi-disciplinary approach helps with. Headaches and nausea may be best managed by a nurse.
While headaches and nausea are common, some people also cope with balance problems, blurry vision, dizziness, light/noise sensitivity, and confusion. We proactively assess, treat and refer many post-concussive syndromes so that symptoms don’t “stack” on top of each other. This helps people relax, knowing that someone is working with them to reduce stress and improve their quality of life.
Symptom-focused care also helps us understand your life better, so you can focus on recovering faster with less stress.
Sometimes we need to talk it out.
Feeling angry or frustrated is a common symptom of brain injury. That’s why we proactively assess and treat anxiety and depression symptoms during our visits. We can proactively offer psychological counselling to patients (and their caregivers) as a normal part of care, and also refer them to specialized providers when required.
Don’t let symptoms delay your brain injury recovery.

This community nursing program provides specialized home support for patients after traumatic brain injury. Our program strives to improve brain health with professional nursing care that complements usual care. We focus primarily on improving health-related Quality of Life (HR-QoL) using a capacity coaching approach. In turn, our services help improve self-efficacy and expedite your patient’s return to life, school, work, or play.
Our community nursing services are built around your patient’s financial resources. We typically seek direct coverage for community services via provincial and private health insurance plans. Our clinical team also collaborates with primary and specialty care teams to deliver evidence-based therapies within the patient’s home. In this way, our community-based team can help reduce health-system utilization and improve recovery after brain injury/mTBI.
Evidence-based therapies form an important part of our care. We frequently address health-system gaps and improve access to brain injury rehabilitation services in Edmonton. In addition to effective health support, this specialized program provides cognitive, functional, and psychosocial rehabilitation to complement a patient’s existing treatment for brain injury.
Limitations & Exclusions
We do not provide emergency care. If your patient is experiencing any sudden or unexpected change, please do not refer them to a community-based nursing program. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) should be activated for any urgent neurological concerns, or the patient should be immediately referred to their closest Emergency Department.
